We are excited to introduce the latest project from SmartiLab – a brand-new product that combines innovation, design, and practicality.
✔️Birth of the project
This project was born in 2023, combining my experience as a programmer with a passion for 3D printing and electronics.
During a conversation with my friend Claudio, a professional in pest and rodent control, I learned that companies in this sector often carry out unnecessary trap inspections, leading to unnecessary time and resource consumption.
Thanks to the collaboration with Claudio, the trap has been designed to be highly effective and includes all the necessary features for professional use.
This insight inspired the creation of a smart device that enables users to monitor trap status remotely and respond only when intervention is truly needed.
2023 First styling of the object – the very first idea of its shape. This was the dawn of the project.

After numerous tests, we have replaced the visible springs shown in the early prototypes with a simple mass- balancing system, greatly improving the reliability of the device.
✔️Device features
Mouse Trap Wifi is a mechanical multi-catch trap designed for the effective control of mice and small rats. Equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity, it can send real-time notifications to the user via Telegram messages and email.
Entirely made of high-quality plastic with reinforced thickness, it ensures durability and resistance, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Its innovative design allows for the capture of multiple rodents without the use of poison, ensuring a safe environment for both people and animals.
With an eye-catching design, it also serves as a decorative object for gardens, warehouses, and areas affected by rodents.
The trap is equipped with a bait dispenser, suitable for both liquid and solid attractants. The capture mechanism features a swinging door, which releases the prey under its own weight.
Since it does not use chemical products, it is safe to place in areas where food is handled or where people and animals live.
Designed for easy disassembly, the trap can be cleaned and reused, offering an economical and eco-friendly solution for rodent control.
🐇Cruelty Free:

Upon receiving the capture notification, it is also possible to promptly intervene and release the unwanted guests far away from home.

✔️What it is and how it works
The device features a versatile bait dispenser designed to hold both liquid and solid attractants. It includes a drawer-style dispenser with grid-patterned walls that effectively lure rodents toward the bait. Inside, you can place solid baits as well as a central container specifically for liquid or gel-based attractants. Integrated into the trap’s dome, the dispenser keeps the bait protected from water exposure, significantly reducing waste and minimizing the need for frequent refills or inspections.

✔️Real Test
All demonstrations shown in these videos are carried out with full respect for the animals. The trap is completely humane, non-lethal, and free from chemicals or poisons, ensuring the well-being of the animals at all times.

🛠️Device Configuration:
The device’s web interface allows you to configure the Wi-Fi network to connect to, as well as set the device name that will appear in the web app and in notification messages.
You can also enable the sensor for the anti-decomposition liquid:
If, after a capture, the trap cannot be immediately inspected, you can use commercially available liquid products that significantly slow down the decomposition of the rodent.
When the sensor is enabled, the liquid level (shown as a percentage) will be visible both in the web app and in the notifications.
You can also reset the device to factory settings, monitor capture events and liquid levels in real time via the local network—ideal if the trap is installed in a remote location and the optional remote access service is not active.
🔌Power Supply:
The package includes a 5V, 1A USB-C power adapter and a 1-meter charging cable.



🖥️Display:
The device features a low-power e-paper display that provides essential information at a glance. Even without connecting to the web interface, you can instantly check the system status directly on the screen:
✅ Server status (connected/disconnected)
✅ Wi-Fi connection status
✅ Number of captures detected
✅Anti-decomposition liquid level, shown as a percentage
Thanks to the e-paper technology, the display consumes virtually no power and remains visible even when the device is not actively powered, making it perfect for long-term monitoring in remote locations.
🌈RGB Led Ring
The device includes a NeoPixel LED ring that provides real-time visual feedback through color-coded signals. This allows users to quickly understand the current status without checking the app or display.
Here’s what the colors mean:
– 🟢 Green: The device is connected and online
– 🟣 Purple: The device is not connected or the server is offline
– 🟡 Yellow: Configuration mode is active (Access Point mode)
– 🔴 Red: One or more catches have been registered
– 🔵 Blue: The anti-decomposition liquid level is below 10%
– 🔴+🔵 Half Red / Half Blue: One or more catches detected and the liquid level is below 10%

🐀Catches Sensor:
The device features a magnetic sensor 🧲 that detects captures by monitoring the opening of the trap’s hatch.
When the hatch is triggered, the sensor activates and the device automatically:
– ➕ Increments the capture count
– 🖥️ Updates the e-paper display
– 🌈 Changes the LED ring color accordingly
– 🌐 Sends a real-time update to the web app
– 📲 Instantly notifies the user via our Telegram bot @smartilab_bot (if enabled)
– 📧 Instantly notifies the user via Email (if enabled)
This multi-channel notification system ensures you’re always informed—whether you’re nearby or remotely monitoring your traps.
🌡️Liquid Sensor:
An ultrasonic sensor 🧪📏 is used to measure the level of the anti-decomposition liquid inside the container.
The reading is displayed as a percentage in the web app, on the e-paper screen, and included in notifications—helping you monitor fluid levels with precision and refill when needed.


🍬Bait Dispenser:
The device features a versatile bait dispenser, designed to hold both liquid and solid attractants, with mesh walls that effectively attract rodents to the bait. Inside, you can place solid bait or liquid or gel attractants. Integrated into the trap dome, the dispenser protects the bait from exposure to water, significantly reducing waste and the need for frequent refills or inspections.
💧Water Protection :
This close-up reveals the carefully designed sealing elements integrated into the device’s body. While not officially waterproof or certified, these seals provide reliable protection against moisture and dust, ensuring the electronics stay safe when used outdoors — as long as the device remains sheltered from direct exposure to rain. This thoughtful design strikes the perfect balance between durability and everyday usability, so your device can confidently accompany you in a variety of environments.


🪜 The Ladder
The ladder attaches to the trap’s tunnel, can rotate, and is easily accessible even for very small rodents.
➰ Tube Connector
Tube Connector is an accessory for Mouse Trap Wifi, which allows the connection of a flexible ventilation tube with a diameter of 100mm to the trap.
The accessory is necessary when:
✅ In the place where there is a presence of mice there is not enough space to place Mouse Trap.
✅ Position the entrance of the tube that leads to the trap in high spaces such as false ceilings or cavities.
✅ Leave the trap in a convenient position for inspection and reach a specific point via the tube connected to the trap.



📐 Sizes
After careful study of general needs, these are the ideal dimensions for a consumer-grade trap. It’s compact enough to be placed almost anywhere, yet specifically designed for small to medium-sized rodents.For larger traps, intended for open spaces and bigger rats 🐀, a professional-grade line is necessary, which we are currently testing.

Our Telegram bot gives you instant access to the SmartiLab web app 🌐.
